Ubud Hotel Association recently hosted the Ubud Chef & Latte Art Competition at Bebek Mebaris Tourism Village, Peliatan, Ubud on Friday, 6th December 2019. The event attracted baristas and coffee loving folk from all over Bali as participants showcased the fine art of pouring a perfect latte. The competition was judged on design, precision and cleanliness.
Coffee friends from all over the island gathered to compete and share a few laughs over some pretty decent lattes. The event was open to the public and there was lots of local talent on display. Our very own barista, the artistic I Wayan Agus Setiawan from Manisan Bali, represented Alaya Resort Ubud where he was declared first-place winner.
Similarly, Alaya Resort Ubud also did well in the recent Ubud Art of Cocktail Competition held at Sthala a Tribute Portfolio Hotel Ubud Bali on Friday, 13th of December 2019. Our resident bartender, Putu Merta, made us all proud by bringing home a third-place win.
As a platform for both amateur and professional bar staff to showcase their creative expertise, this competition was held specifically for bartenders in the Ubud area. The aim of the event was to introduce the art of Flair Bartending to Ubud and encourage a new generation of bar staff to learn more about cocktails. It was supported by the Ubud Food & Beverage Community (UFBC), a relatively new organisation that was founded last year. They are working to advance the perception of bartending as a potential career prospect and improve the quality of bartenders in Ubud.
Ubud is one of Bali’s favourite travel destinations. Therefore, local tourism leaders are striving to revamp and improve certain aspects of Ubud’s hospitality sector. Although culture is a huge drawcard for many visitors, there is also a growing segment of food lovers who appreciate everything that is being done to create a vibrant culinary scene.
