Indonesian Independence Day on 17th August 2018 marked the nation’s 73rd anniversary of freedom following several centuries of colonization. This holiday is a celebration of national pride with red and white flag adorning homes, buildings and streets. Symbolic flag raising ceremonies have been conducted at government offices, schools and public institutions to commemorate this auspicious day. At local community level, neighbourhoods gathered to participate in fun games and activities where lots of great prizes have been won.
In the spirit of bringing people together, Alaya Hotels & Resorts also hosted its own Indonesian Independence Day event with team games and competitions such as sack races, banana race, and water transfer. Through this event, Best Employee Announcement and Birthday Celebration were conducted to appreciate all staff dedication. Then during the evening, Manisan Restaurant presented an Indonesian Independence Dinner featuring flavourful dishes from around the archipelago accompanied by a live Keroncong performance.
Motivated by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and to celebrate Indonesian Independence Day, Alaya Resort Ubud hosted a “Blood Donation Drive” for members of the local Balinese community. This was conducted in association with Palang Merah Indonesia (Indonesian Red Cross) on 15th August 2018. Through this social event, Alaya Resort Ubud and Indonesian Red Cross had collected blood bags which later will be donated to those who need it. This is a part of Alaya Cares to save humans live.
The drive was supported by the resort’s management team and all staff members as another initiative directly related to its ongoing Alaya Cares and Tri Hita Karana programs. Alaya Hotels & Resorts is committed to organizing such undertaking on a regular basis in an effort to encourage all employees to contribute and give back to society. It was an opportunity for everyone involved to share their blood to help save human lives. Alaya Resort Ubud would like to express its appreciation to Palang Merah Indonesia for championing this worthy cause as part of a wider effort to provide essential health care and social support to the people of Bali.
