Alaya Hotels and Resorts respect the environment and local communities is firmly entrenched in Alaya’s vision that conservation, community and commerce can and should be integrated. Alaya’s green efforts extend beyond the operational aspects of the resorts to create a positive impact on the community – economically, socially and culturally. This includes maintaining a little “Subak” or rice field in Alaya Resort Ubud as well as making “Dapur Hidup” or Living Kitchen in collaboration with Local suppliers as well as using their products and service. Alaya Hotels and Resorts is also making it hip to ditch single use plastic. Alaya CEO, Jimmy Gunawan is trying to cut down on the most environmentally damaging of those resources: single-use plastic. In honor of Earth Day on April 22, all Alaya properties pledged to eliminate single-use plastic from all his hotels by 2018—and to serve as a leader in the hospitality industry for a plastic free moment-turned-movement.
