Alaya Resort Ubud, in collaboration with the Asia Bartenders Association (ABA), proudly presents a flair and mixology tournament in Ubud, Bali. The Indonesia Road to Extreme World Flair 2019 which has been successfully held on 9^th August 2019 at Manisan Bali. This exclusive event has been ABA Indonesia’s major bartending competition on the island of Bali since 2014. It aims to introduce the art of flair bartending to Ubud and encourage a new generation of bar staff to learn more and evolve. The competition is a chance for all bartenders in Ubud to take their skills to the next level. The overall flair winner will go on to represent Indonesia at the Extreme World Flair 2019 in Okinawa, Japan on September 2019.

The judging panel made up of professional bartenders who all were certified as legends in National and International Flair Championships. They used the ABA Standard Scoring System 2019 to assess and score of each performance fairly. The competition opened to supporters and spectators with a special entrance fee of just IDR 50.000 per person including a complimentary welcome drink This event was proudly supported by Alaya Resort Ubud, Manisan Bali, Orang Tua Group; Iceland Vodka, Iceland Citrus, Iceland Orange, Prost Beer, Empire Gin, Zirca Liqueur, Kaltenberg Beer, Mix Max, Black Jack Cola, Toffin, Fabbri ,Squeeze Juice, Partners; Himpunan Bartender Indonesia (HBI), Masterclass Bali and The Bartimes.

“This challenge is a chance for all bartenders in Bali especially Ubud to take their skills to the next level. The competition is open to all local bartenders and they can participate by registering with ABA Indonesia. The winner of flair category will represent Indonesia at the Extreme World Flair 2019 in Okinawa, Japan on September 2019” said Agung Yoga, President of ABA Indonesia.

Contestants got to showcase their talents of flair challenge by making two drinks in the Working Flair Exhibition before going into the next round. Each contestant got to perform for five minutes by offering up two drinks. They had a further two minutes to create one additional cocktail based purely on technical precision rather than theatrics. At the event, 13 bartenders including one from Alaya Resort Ubud showed their talent in the flair category by making two drinks in the Working Flair Exhibition before going into the next round. The competition had successfully invited passionate bartenders to battle it out for a generous IDR 20.000.000 cash prize which will be used as bartender accommodation to represent Indonesia at the Extreme World Flair 2019 in Okinawa, Japan.  The Champion for Flair and Best Cocktail Category goes to Aldi Suardana from Azul Beach Club. The winner will get return ticket including accommodation to Okinawa, Japan. They will represent Indonesia on the Indonesia at the Extreme World Flair 2019 in Okinawa, Japan which will be held on September 2019.

Dewi Mas, General Manager Alaya Hotels & Resorts, commented that this event is the third of its kind in Ubud. It is indeed a great honour for Alaya Resort Ubud to always host the ABA Indonesia event. She goes on to say that hopefully in the future Ubud will become known as a destination where guests can experience creative cocktails made with expert precision. It will support local bartender to go to International flair challenge and make Indonesia proud.
