Subak was established by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage on June 29, 2012 with the Cultural Landscape of Bali Province label: the Subak System as a Manifestation of the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy. One of the reason for the establishment of Subak as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, is because Subak have outstanding universal values, and extraordinary cultural values that are still alive today.
It’s a part of Alaya Hotels and Resorts Corporate Social Responsibility program known as “Alaya Cares” where the hotels respect the environment and local communities is firmly entrenched in Alaya’s vision that conservation, community and commerce can and should be integrated. Alaya’s green efforts extend beyond the operational aspects of the resorts to create a positive impact on the community – economically, socially and culturally.
